Trauma-Responsive vs. Trauma-Informed. Understanding the difference is key to knowing how these concepts are applied:
  • Trauma-Responsive: The action phase. It is the practical implementation of that knowledge, modifying how you communicate, structure environments, and deliver services to support healing and resilience; Intentionally responding to the trauma a child has experienced that continues to effect and limit healthy emotional development.
  • Trauma-Informed: The awareness and knowledge base. It means understanding the widespread impact of trauma on child development, adult nervous systems, and behavior.
